Maintenance on crgmg.com

At some point within the next few weeks, crgmg.com will go offline temporarily. This is because we are switching from a prebuilt LAMP stack to a custom installation of Apache. This should last at most 2 days.

CRGMG News - Sep 2021

Well, here we are; first post! Let's get right to it, starting with...

Magnace: Arena v1.2
The biggest MGA update yet v1.2 will release with FULL custom level support. Levels will be able to be imported easily via either a file dialog or just dragging a Magnace Arena Map (.mgmp) file into a specific folder in the game directory.

To make these levels, you can use the new tool included with every purchase, MAGGIE Editor. MAGGIE will include a GUI map editor and file packer, as well as an option to automatically upload created levels to the new online service, MGANet.

MGANet will be a website where you can share maps. Extremely high-quality maps might even be able to be sold for real money (if you feel like it; this is optional and is unconfirmed).

With this update, credits will be repurposed. They will be made obsolete temporarily, but will be able to be used for cosmetics and (maybe) unlocking of story levels if we decide to do that.

OPCM Source Code Release
OPCM, successor to OpAnnounce, will be going open source on GitHub soon (crgmediagroup/opcm). Some more changes will need to be done, as the current (private) distribution contains some confidential code or info.

JDTPhysLight: What?
During the development of the now-cancelled Magnace: Glahub, a new "sub-engine" was developed for the game. Initially, this was a very simple lighting and physics system, but in addition to that, there were some tools included that made building distributions of software for various platforms easily.

For example, JDTPL could automatically take a Unity Project, automatically build it for Windows, Mac and Linux and then mod some of the files for compatibility or add other files, like copyright notices, etc.

JDTPL has been very useful in MGA's development, so later on down the track it will be sold as standalone software, without the original physics and lighting engine.

Spherica 2? When?
Spherica 2 will not be released very soon, due to focus on other projects and poor legacy code.

That's all for September, see you in October!
